Thursday 12 February 2026 Year 2 Step Back in Time at Forest School Year 2 had an exciting and imaginative Forest School session today as they linked their outdoor learning to their history topic on Mary Seacole and Florence Nightingale. Using a combination of creativity, teamwork, and Forest School skills, the children set out to make their very own herbal medicines, just like Mary Seacole did when caring for wounded soldiers.

Thursday 12 February 2026 Year 1 Celebrate Completing Their Delicious DT Project Year 1 have proudly completed their Design and Technology project by creating their very own fruit salads! After several weeks of exploring different fruits, tasting new flavours, and designing their ideal combinations, the children finally put their plans into action.

Wednesday 11 February 2026 Year 1/2 Learn About Nursing With a Special Visitor This week, Year 1/2 were very lucky to have a visit from Nurse Sam, who came to talk to the children about her important job as a nurse. She explained the many different roles she carries out each day and showed the children some of the special equipment she uses, including a stethoscope and real X‑rays.

Tuesday 10 February 2026 Internet Safety Week 2026 Explore Artificial Intelligence During Internet Safety Week As part of Internet Safety Week, our children took part in the BBC Live Lesson, which focused on the fascinating and fast‑growing world of artificial intelligence. The session introduced pupils to what AI is, how it works, and where we see it in everyday life — from smart speakers to online searches and digital assistants.

Tuesday 10 February 2026 Year 3 and Year 4 Football Teams Shine at EDA Tournament! A huge well done to our fantastic Year 3 and Year 4 football teams, who recently took part in an exciting competition at EDA. The children played brilliantly throughout the event, taking part in multiple matches against local schools and showing great teamwork, determination, and sportsmanship.

Monday 9 February 2026 Safety Internet Week 2026 Our focus this week is "Safer Intent". Mrs Carson our IT Leader delivered a whole school assembly talking about about internet safety and the use of AI. The children were involved in this interactive assembly. Throughout the week, they impressed both their teachers and the Standon Bowers instructors with their enthusiasm, resilience and positive attitude.

Friday 6 February 2026 Holly Grove has been chosen to pilot a brand new JCB Education Programme We're delighted to share that our KS1 pupils have been selected to take part in an exciting new STEM project created by JCB. A member of the JCB Education Team, who is related to a family with a child in KS1, kindly recommended Holly Grove and thanks to this connection we have received some wonderful resources. As part of National Storytelling Week, our pupils took part in an exciting live online lesson with rapper and poet Alim Kamara. The children were completely inspired as Alim shared his passion for rhythm, rhyme and storytelling, giving them lots of brilliant ideas to help them write their very own raps.

Tuesday 3 February 2026 Year 5 Put Their Forest School Skills to the Test at Beaudesert! Year 5 enjoyed a fantastic day at Beaudesert Activity Centre, where they had the chance to put all their Forest School knowledge and skills into action in a much larger woodland environment. These are skills the children have been building since Nursery, and it was wonderful to see how confidently they used them.

Monday 2 February 2026 Nursery Butterflies Winter Habitats On Monday, the Butterflies had a wonderful time during their Forest School session. We began by talking about how, in winter, some animals go into hibernation to keep themselves warm and safe. This sparked lots of curiosity, so together we decided to create our very own animal habitats.

Our Year 3/4 Book Club have been diving into the wonderful world of our Author of the Month, Michael Morpurgo. The children really enjoyed researching and discovering fascinating facts about him—especially as our current class reading book is The Amazing Story of Adolphus Tips.

Tuesday 27 January 2026 A Wonderful Visit From Lichfield District Council… and Orinoco the Womble! Today we were thrilled to welcome Lichfield District Council into school—along with a very special guest… Orinoco the Womble!The visit marked the launch of a brand‑new national food waste education campaign, and we were incredibly proud that our school was chosen to help introduce it. Lichfield District Council were the very first in the country to launch this initiative, making the day even more exciting for our pupils.
