Year 2 and Year 5 Learn About Carbon Monoxide Safety with Bonanza Creative

This week, both Year 2 and Year 5 took part in exciting and informative half‑day workshops delivered by Bonanza Creative, helping children understand the dangers of carbon monoxide and how to keep themselves and their families safe.

Year 2 enjoyed the lively Safety Seymour Workshop, where they became Safety Assistants for the day. Safety Seymour, a superhero bear from outer space, guided the children on a mission to learn what carbon monoxide is, why it can be dangerous, and how we can protect our homes. The storytelling, role‑play and hands‑on activities kept everyone engaged from start to finish, and the children loved helping Seymour complete his important safety mission.

Year 5 took part in a more in‑depth half‑day session, exploring how carbon monoxide is produced, why it is known as the “silent killer,” and the steps families can take to prevent it. This workshop encouraged thoughtful discussions and helped the children deepen their understanding of science and home safety.

To help families stay safe, every child received a special bag to take home, which included a carbon monoxide detector. The children were very proud to share what they had learned and excited to help keep their homes protected.

A huge thank you to Bonanza Creative for delivering such valuable and engaging workshops. Both year groups left feeling confident, knowledgeable and empowered to spread the safety message at home.
