Year 3/4 Prepare to Persuade the Celtic Tribes!
Year 3/4 have stepped back in time this week as part of our History topic on the Celts and Romans. We have been exploring a persuasive letter written from one Celtic tribe to another, and the children have been working hard to identify all the key features that make the letter powerful and convincing.
Together, we looked closely at how the writer used persuasive language, emotive vocabulary, reasons, and strong arguments to encourage support from their neighbouring tribe. The children were brilliant at spotting the techniques and discussing why they were effective.
Now that we know what makes a strong persuasive letter, we will soon be writing our own—aimed at the Ordovices or Dubonni tribes. Our goal? To persuade them to join forces so that, together, we might finally defeat the Romans!
The classroom has been full of excitement, drama, and creativity as the children imagine life as members of a Celtic tribe preparing for battle. It has been a fantastic way to deepen our understanding of the Celts while developing our writing skills.
A wonderful blend of history, literacy, and imagination—well done, Year 3/4!
