Nursery Children Take Ownership Through Our New Book Voting Station

This week in Nursery, our youngest learners have been exploring our British Values and our Torch value of Ownership in a fun and meaningful way. We’ve introduced a brand‑new Book Vote Station, and it has quickly become one of the most exciting parts of the children’s morning routine!

When the children arrive each day, they begin by finding their own photograph and placing it beside the book they would like to hear. This simple activity helps our nursery children grow in confidence, practise making choices, and understand that their voice matters.

Once everyone has voted, the teachers count up the pictures and reveal the winning story. The children wait eagerly to see which book has been chosen, and we all share the winning story together at snack time. It’s a lovely moment of togetherness, and the children feel proud knowing they helped make the decision.

The Book Vote Station supports early independence, promotes fairness, and helps our nursery children understand the idea of voting in a way that is playful and age‑appropriate. We’re so proud of how enthusiastically they have taken ownership of this new routine!
