Year 1 have had a fantastic and very tasty Design & Technology lesson this week as we explored a wide range of vegetables to discover which ones are our favourites. The children were excited to try vegetables they already knew they liked, as well as being brave enough to taste some completely new ones!

There were lots of surprised reactions around the room, especially when we discovered that red peppers and red onions were two of our most popular choices. One of our children did find the red onion a little too spicy, which caused lots of giggles!

The lesson was a brilliant opportunity for the children to use their senses, develop their food‑tasting vocabulary, and think carefully about the flavours and textures they prefer. All of this exploring will help us make some important decisions next week…

Because next week, we’ll be choosing the vegetables we want to include when we make our own super soup! 🥣
The children are already full of ideas and can’t wait to get chopping, stirring and creating.
