Curriculum
Whilst we follow the national curriculum, it is unique because it is designed to meet the needs and interests of our pupils and reflects our TORCH values.
Curriculum Rationale
We believe that the curriculum at Holly Grove helps children to grow together socially, emotionally and spiritually as individuals as well as one community. It provides many and varied opportunities for all children, no matter what their needs, interests or preferences are. Music, sport, arts, humanities and science are all encouraged and explored and we often provide opportunities for different styles of learning.
We create learners for life by ensuring that our curriculum is relevant and purposeful and prepares children for the next stages of their lives and beyond. Our curriculum is highly aspirational and challenges all children to ‘Reach for the Stars’. We want them to be challenged to imagine possibilities beyond their own experience.
Our whole curriculum is bound together by both the school TORCH values and British values on which we place so much emphasis and which make us a positive, successful community of learners. Above all, our curriculum is designed to help every single child to ‘Be the Best they Can Be’ in all areas of their lives.
"Education is not the filling of a pail, but the lighting of fire" - W.B. Yeats
"If you can light the spark of curiosity in a child, they will learn without any further assistance, very often. Children are natural learners" - Sir Ken Robinson
