Year 5/6 Explore Local Churches on Foot
Our Year 5/6 pupils recently took part in a fascinating local walk, exploring the Christian heritage of Burntwood by visiting several churches marked on their map. Over the course of the day, the children walked an impressive 16,000+ steps as they made their way around the community!
As part of their learning, the children were warmly welcomed into a number of local churches, including Burntwood Methodist Church, St Anne’s Church in Chasetown, and St Joseph’s Catholic Church. These visits gave pupils the opportunity to observe and compare the different styles of Christian worship spaces—looking closely at the architecture, layout, and special items found inside each church.
The children showed great curiosity and respect throughout the day, asking thoughtful questions and engaging in meaningful discussions. Their behaviour was impeccable, and they represented the school beautifully.
It was a brilliant way to bring classroom learning to life and deepen their understanding of the diversity within Christianity in our local area.
