Year 3/4 Science -Digestive process

Today we have been demonstrating the human digestive system. We used bread in a bowl (the mouth) using scissors (the incisors), then we added water (saliva) to the bowl and used a fork to grind the bread down (the molars). The food was then poured into a food bag (the stomach) and mixed with orange juice (acid). We squeezed the bag to mimic the stomach muscles churning the food with the stomach acid. The food was put into tights (entered the small intestine) when the liquid was removed from the chyme to leave behind the faeces. 

We really enjoyed learning how food moved through our bodies.
