Year 3 & 4 Reading Buddies

We recently held a lovely reading event where our Year 3 and Year 4 pupils became reading buddies for the younger children in Year 1 and Year 2. The older children read a wonderful selection of stories to their younger peers, creating a calm and joyful atmosphere filled with imagination and connection.

It was a delight to see the older children being so caring and responsive, helping the younger ones engage with the stories and enjoy the experience. The session was not only fun but also incredibly valuable.

Reading aloud has many benefits:

• It helps build confidence and fluency in reading.
• It strengthens communication and listening skills.
• It fosters a love of books and storytelling.
• It creates opportunities for bonding and mentoring between year groups.

The children thoroughly enjoyed sharing stories and spending time together. A big well done to all involved for making it such a special event!
