Year 3/4 have been enjoying an exciting Design and Technology project this half term, where they have been busy designing and creating their very own pneumatic monsters.

The children began by exploring how pneumatic systems work and experimented with different ways air can be used to create movement. They then carefully decided how they wanted their system to work before designing a monster around it. This thoughtful approach meant every design was unique and purposeful.

Once their designs were complete, the children moved on to making their monsters. They used their plans to guide them, adapting and improving their ideas as they went along. The end result was a range of impressive moving monsters, each brought to life using pneumatic mechanisms.

This project was not always straightforward, and the children showed excellent resilience and determination throughout. They tested their systems, solved problems and made adjustments when things did not work as expected. It was wonderful to see them persevere and take pride in perfecting their creations.

We were incredibly impressed with the creativity, teamwork and problem‑solving skills shown by Year 3/4 during this project. Their pneumatic monsters are a fantastic example of learning in action and showcase how resilience and careful design can lead to amazing results.
