Year 3/4 DT -different structures
Exploring Strength in Science and Design Technology!
This week at Holly Grove School, pupils have been combining their Science and Design Technology skills to investigate how to make paper stronger. The challenge? To use only paper to build different structures – including a chair, a table, a tent, and even a house!
Children experimented with a range of techniques to increase the strength of paper, such as rolling, folding, layering, and even twisting. They discovered how these methods change the properties of paper and make it suitable for supporting weight and creating stable structures.
The classroom was full of creativity and problem-solving as pupils tested their designs, made improvements, and worked together to achieve their goals. It was fantastic to see so much teamwork and perseverance in action!
Well done to all our budding engineers and scientists – your innovative ideas and determination have been inspiring!
