Our Reception children  have had a fantastic time learning all about how to keep their teeth clean and healthy.

The children explored why it is important to look after our teeth and discussed how sugar can affect them. Together, we talked about the best ways to remove sugar from our teeth and learned about foods that help keep our teeth healthy, as well as foods that are less healthy but can still be enjoyed occasionally and in moderation.

Linking learning to practical skills, the children used their fine motor skills to complete an activity based on everything they had discovered. They also learned the correct way to brush their teeth, understanding the importance of brushing twice a day for two minutes to keep their smiles healthy.

One of the highlights was learning a fun tooth‑brushing song, which helped the children remember how and when to brush in an enjoyable and engaging way.

To support healthy habits at home, we were very pleased that every child received their own toothbrush and toothpaste to take home and practise with their families.
