Celebrating Neurodiversity Week at Holly Grove

We have had a wonderful Neurodiversity Week as part of the Primitas family of schools. Across Holly Grove, every class took time to explore what neurodiversity means and how it links closely with our Torch Values of Tolerance and Respect. The children learned that understanding and valuing our differences is an essential part of building a kind, supportive and inclusive school community.

Throughout the week, pupils discussed how we all think, learn and experience the world differently. This helped them to see that our unique strengths and challenges are what make each of us special.

Our Year 4 Reading Gladiators made a particularly thoughtful contribution by sharing their work on the book Goldfish Boy. This story explores some very mature themes, including OCD, and the children demonstrated impressive sensitivity as they discussed how such conditions can impact not only the individual but the wider family too.

Classes also enjoyed a variety of brain breaks during the week, learning about the importance of giving ourselves time to regulate, refocus and process changes or challenges. We talked about how some children may need longer to adapt, and how we can support one another with patience and understanding.

Around school, our regulation stations played an important role in supporting the children. These calm spaces are available to everyone, and we continue to encourage pupils to use them whenever they feel they need time to reset or regulate their emotions.

We are incredibly proud of how our children embraced Neurodiversity Week. They showed compassion, maturity and a genuine commitment to our Torch values. Most importantly, they looked after one another and celebrated the message that our differences are something to be understood, supported and celebrated
