Red Nose Day Joke Competition Brings Laughter to Holly Grove
The hall was full of excitement and laughter this morning as Holly Grove held its much‑loved Red Nose Day Joke Competition. This annual tradition is always a highlight of the school calendar, and this year’s performances were funnier than ever.
Every class chose their favourite joke to be performed on stage. Children from across the school stepped up with confidence, brilliant timing and huge enthusiasm, entertaining everyone with their clever and silly punchlines. The whole school community came together to enjoy a joyful morning of laughter.
As well as celebrating humour and confidence, we used the joke competition as a fun way to raise money for Comic Relief. Children and staff were invited to wear red or funny clothes in return for a voluntary donation, helping us support an important cause while enjoying a day of smiles.
After all the jokes had been heard, the staff had the challenging task of choosing their top three. With so many fantastic entries, it was certainly not an easy job.
Here are the winning jokes:
In 3rd place, from a Year 5 child:
“There were two windmills in a field. One said to the other, ‘What music do you like?’ The other one said, ‘I’m a big metal fan.’”
In 2nd place, from a Reception child:
“Why did the banana go to the doctors? Because he wasn’t peeling very well.”
And in 1st place, from Year 2:
“What do you call a potato wearing glasses? A spectato!”
All of the children who took part received an Easter egg as a prize, making the celebration even sweeter.
A huge well done to all of our joke‑tellers and to every child who joined in by dressing up, donating and supporting Comic Relief. It was a wonderful morning filled with laughter, community spirit and kindness.
